The Epic Trail Day Blueprint
Welcome to your roadmap to the best single day on Cuyuna's legendary red dirt. Keep reading for skill-specific trail loops, premium gear rental connections, and the perfect post-ride celebration spot.
Our Favorite Cuyuna Trails for Every Rider
Tucked in Minnesota's Iron Range, the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area has blossomed from abandoned mine pits into one of the Midwest's premier mountain biking destinations. With over 70 miles of singletrack trails, ranging from beginner-friendly loops to tougher tracks, Cuyuna truly caters to all skill levels.
Bring your own bike + helmet so you can take advantage of the area’s premiere riding right from your cabin door. If you don’t own these essentials, you can rent them at Red Raven or Cykel in Ironton.
Easy (Green) Trails:
Galloping Goose (green, easy, located at Miner's Mountain Rally Center)
An easy and smooth singletrack that serves as the gateway to the Mahnomen trails. It's wide enough for comfortable riding, gently contoured, and low on technical drama. It's the perfect warm up trail for any rider.
Klondyke (green, easy, located at Sagamore Unit)
Another welcome option for those just stepping onto singletrack, Klondyke offers beginner-friendly terrain with gentle gradients and minimal obstacles.

Intermediate (Yellow) Trails
Bobsled (Green/yellow, easy to more difficult, located at Yawkey Unit)
A standout favorite for many. It's known for its fun, flowing berms, making for an exhilarating ride through winding terrain.
Roly Poly (Yellow, more difficult, located at Miner's Mountain Rally Center)
One of Cuyuna's most celebrated flow trails, Roly Poly ramps up the thrill factors with rollers and swooping turns. This trail is a true highlight for intermediate riders looking for a gravity-flow experience.

Whether you're new to mountain biking or chasing that next adrenaline rush, Cuyuna's trail system offers something for everyone. Start your morning with a smooth cruise, work your way up to heart-pumping descents, and end the day with that unbeatable feeling of red dirt on your tires and a smile on your face.

After conquering the red-dirt loops, nothing hits quite like a well-earned beverage. Here are a few top spots in Crosby to help you refuel and celebrate your ride:
Red Raven Bike Café doubles as a bike shop and coffee bar, perfect for cooling down with a perfectly pulled espresso or cold brew after your ride.
Cuyuna Brewing Co. is just a short hop away downtown and offers locally brewed beverages that pair perfectly with trail stories and camaraderie.
Hard Water Lounge serves imaginative, expertly crafted cocktails in a relaxed, welcoming setting where you can toast a day well ridden.
These are just a few ideas, but honestly, wander into any of the establishments downtown and you can’t go wrong. Crosby’s local spots are fantastic and perfect for wrapping up an epic trail day.
