MEET JAKE AND MEGHAN: The Heart Behind Cuyuna Cabin Collection

Updated: Nov 24

If you have ever stayed at one of our cabins or followed along on our journey, you have probably heard us say how much we love Cuyuna Country. That love is where this entire story began.

We are Jake and Meghan, the husband and wife team behind Cuyuna Cabin Collection. Our cabin journey started in 2021 when we renovated an over-100-year-old miner’s home in Crosby, Minnesota. What began as a single project quickly grew into something much bigger.

By 2022, we had launched Cuyuna Cabin Collection. Today, the collection includes five unique properties, each intentionally designed for rest, reconnection, and time in nature. In October 2025, we expanded again with the purchase of True North Basecamp in Crosby, a place that holds deep meaning for adventure lovers near and far.

Jake's Path to Cuyuna

But our story starts way before the cabins. Jake grew up in the Milwaukee area, working for more than a decade in his family's auto body shop. For years, he thought he would take over the business. Then a shift in perspective, along with a few life changing trips to Crosby, opened up a new door. He has always been an entrepreneur at heart, someone who sees potentital where others might not. When the first cabin project came along, everything clicked. Today, Jake pours that same drive and creativity into shaping cabin experiences that feel thoughtful, welcoming, and unforgettable.

Meghan's Story

Meghan grew up in Elk River, Minnesota and spent years as a TV news anchor and reporter for stations including KARE, CBS58, NBC15, and KAAL. Her career brought her into living rooms across the Midwest, telling stories and connecting with communities. But as the cabin business took off and their family grew with the arrival of their son, Meghan felt called to a new chapter. Now she leads the brand's marketing and guest experience, putting a thoughtful touch into every detail and helping bring Jake's big ideas to life.

Building Something that Matters

Together, we are building more than just a place to stay. We are creating spaces where couples slow down together, families make memories, friends reconnect, and solo travelers finally get the deep rest they have been craving.

Raised on lake weekends in Minnesota and Wisconsin, we know how meaningful an Up North getaway can be. It is an honor to now share that feeling with others in the place we have made our home.

Every cabin, every trail recommendation, every welcome message is created with intention and with you in mind. Whether you are visiting for a cozy weekend for two, a much needed solo reset, or a big family adventure, we are so grateful to be part of your story.

Thanks for being here. It means more than you know!
